The Westminster school is renowned for its significant art exhibitions, painting a permanent mark of excellence onto its visitors’ minds. Every year the students of the school contribute material to display in the exhibition – from sketches to canvases to sculptures. This not only encourages the students to participate but it inspires and aspires.
Long hours of work, 215 canvases, 700 sketches and 12 human figures later, we managed to assemble an extravagant event that we named “La Natura” with unique themes branching from the four elements of earth to adaptations of Lawrence Stephen Lowry’s paintings and even vintage pop. Participation was at its peak with exceptional amounts of artwork coming in from all year groups around the school as well as some brilliant contributions from parents and teachers.

The weeklong exhibition set off with budding enthusiasm as Ms. Valerie Thompson, principal of The Westminster School Sharjah, inaugurated the event on Sunday the 23rd inauguration was a pleasant surprise that the students had prepared for the head of the art department, Ms. Milcah, which included a video as well as a portrait they had painted of her in order to thank her for all the support that she had provided them with. |
Over the week, students from each year group were given the opportunity to indulge in the brilliant creations of The Westminster School’s community. The exhibition was also visited by students and faculty members of the Gems Wellington Primary School, Westminster alumni, parents and art enthusiasts alike. La Natura was no stranger to hefty words of praise or overwhelming silence as the artwork displayed in the venue space never failed to leave its spectators simply awestruck. It was an honor being a part of this event and the art team promises to bring something new to the plate every year and keep growing on and on to meet expectations and break through them. On behalf of the art team, I would like to thank everyone who enjoyed and encouraged the art exhibition. It was one of the best experiences of the year.
