This task is based on two pieces of music from two different genres. Choose one that inspires you more.
The idea is that you allow yourself to pick up on the mood and meaning of the piece and let your imagination wander with it.
Here is the first piece: Gabriel's Oboe by Ennio Morricone

This song is full of metaphors. It's up to you to interpret them however you want. There is no right answer.

There are no other prompts for this task but my advice would be to listen somewhere quiet (or with your headphones) with closed eyes (listen many times if you have to) and just soak in the music. Write about whatever you experience inside your head while you listen. It can be your own memories, it can be a picture, or a story, or a thought process that develops into an essay - anything goes.
BUT you have to incorporate the song in your work somehow. An example would be using the instruments you hear in a metaphor/simile when describing something else (oboes remind me of warm soup - go figure! there are endless things you can do with music). Or base the writing piece entirely around the song you chose. Or use part of the lyrics as part of your writing. Or any other way you can think of.
As always the minimum word limit is 600 words.
The deadline is extended until the end of December since exam season is near.
Happy Writing!
