This was the first line of the character Hubble Gardner's book in the movie 'The Way We Were." (It's a great movie. Watch it if you have the time.)
The book was called "A Country Made of Ice-cream" but we never actually get to know what the book was about in the movie. We can only see the life two people from different social classes led during a politically polarised era and the clash of two utterly opposite outlooks towards life.
I took this paragraph off a random blog on the net:
"But it’s Hubbell’s book title that hooks us into his world. He imagines his one percent world as a privileged confection – cold, rich, sweet and creamy, with no nutritional value. It holds its form for a short while before it begins to get soft. It’s delicious for the first few scoops, then sugary and sickening after that."
